Hanz Schwanz
Hanz Schwanz was born in the 18th century and grew up in the Holy Roman Empire. He was found outside a nunnery as an infant and would soon be adopted by Oskar and Irma Schwanz. Oskar was a used jar sales man traveling all over Europe trying to make ends meet. On his travels, he would barter with tavern keepers to exchange his used jars for alcohol, usually beer. He would bring home all sorts of beers and give them to young Hanz to try. Hanz developed great interest in these different brews and he noticed they were very strong and he would get drunk very quickly. In his teenage years, he started to brew his own beer that was lighter and with less flavor. He tried selling this new beer with very little success. Undeterred by his lack of success in Europe, he set sail across the ocean to New England.
When he arrived, he soon learned that there was a war going on between the British and the Colonists. The British blockade on the supply of beer provided Hanz Schwanz with an opportunity due to the lack of competition. He mainly supplied the Continental Army, who started to win more battles as result of the lower alcohol content allowing for greater focus and better decisions.
Hanz Schwanz made a significant amount of money during the war, but once the war was won and trade opened up again, sales declined greatly. Hanz Schwanz would continue to sell his beer under the label Schwanz Light till this day!
